Welcome to the Mortality Surveillance course
This course provides officers involved in the mortality surveillance system with the specific technical skillset needed to develop and better manage and implement the mortality surveillance system in their respective countries, e.g. how to collect data in a more effective and efficient manner and how to utilize data in an optimal manner for evidence-based policy making and program design.
It also aims to equip officers involved in the mortality surveillance system with the needed understanding and knowledge related to mortality data, its management and interpretation, e.g. to know and understand what needs to be done and to make use of data for real-time decision making.
How does the course work?
The course is separated into two sections: Batch 1 (modules 1-5) and Batch 2 (modules 6-10).
Batch 1 needs to be tackled module-by-module and includes self-paced study material, assignments, assessments as well as live webinars, so keep an eye on course announcements and the “Webinars” page below!
Upon completion of Batch 1, you will receive a certificate (for completion of Batch 1). You can then navigate to Batch 2 which should then be unlocked as a result of you completing Batch 1.
Batch 2 also offers self-paced study material and assessments, but does not feature live webinars. However, it will provide you with more in-depth knowledge on Mortality Surveillance and its completion is required to earn a certificate for the completion of the entire course.
